Jennifer Ward is the author of more than 20 acclaimed books for children and wildly popular parenting books  I Love Dirt! 52 Activities to Help You and Your Child Discover the Wonders of Nature with Foreword by Richard Louv.

Jennifer’s nature-inspired picture books include Sleepy: Surprising Ways Animals Snooze, illustrated by Robin Page, Mama Dug a Little Den and Mama Built a Little Nest illustrated by Steve Jenkins, named an ALA Notable Children’s Book and Best Book of the Year by both the New York Public Library and Chicago Public Library. She has also written What Will Grow? What Will Hatch? illustrated by Susie Ghahremani, How To Find a Bird illustrated by Diana Sudyka, Round illustrated by Lisa Congdon, and Just You and Me: Remarkable Relationships in the Wild illustrated by Alexander Vidal. 

An avid birder, naturalist and speaker in schools, libraries, nature centers and conferences, Jennifer instills a passion for scientific literacy and often speaks on the subject of linking literacy to STEM instruction. Jennifer is also the school visit liaison for Authors for Earth Day, a coalition of award-winning authors and illustrators who visit schools each year, donating proceeds from their speaking fees to conservation non-profits. She writes full time from her home in Illinois, where she is often distracted by everything outside of her windows (often the subjects of her books!).
