Maureen Healy

Maureen Healy is an award-winning author, popular speaker, and leader in the field of children’s happiness. Her popular blog on Psychology Today reaches millions of parents annually, and she’s also contributed to the PBS Series, This Emotional Life.

Her new book, The Emotionally Healthy Child (New World Library, 2018) received the 2019 Silver Nautilus Book Award. Unique about Maureen is her in-depth background in eastern mindfulness, and commitment to helping children become happier. Her debut book, Growing Happy Kids, won the Nautilus Book Award and Reader’s Favorite in 2014. It begins with Maureen’s first trip to India to study with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and work with Tibetan refugee children. In 2017, Maureen is taking a trip to Bhutan as a co-founding member of the “World Happiness Summit” and to connect with their children. Being both a student and teacher of happiness Maureen loves to travel, meet new people and discover new insights into the how of happiness.

Based in Santa Barbara, California, Maureen continues to serve a busy in-person and Skype practice helping children and their parents become happier. She’s also developed a specialty with helping highly sensitive yet strong-willed children thrive, and mentors those children globally. When she’s not busy helping young children (or their parents!) you can find Maureen taking a walk on Butterfly Beach or at her desk writing her next book. Both things make her extremely happy.
