Caroline Blakemore

Caroline Blakemore is a certified Reading Recovery elementary school educator, the highest and most rigorous level of training for reading specialists.  She has 30-plus years of experience helping children with reading difficulties. Motivated by her love of reading and the latest research on the infant brain, she has given read-aloud workshops to thousands of parents of newborns, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Her new book Every Word Counts is a how-to book for all parents and caregivers to instill the love of reading and words with children beginning from birth.

Blakemore is the co-author of Literacy Centers for the Primary Classroom (Pearson). She holds a masters degree from the University of California at Berkeley and advanced credentials in language development, preschool education, and Montessori training.  In addition to teaching reading to elementary school students, she has taught elementary literacy to aspiring teachers at California State University San Marcos.  She has written articles on literacy and won many awards, including Teacher of the Year.  She now lives in Ventura California, and works as a literacy consultant for public and private schools.
